About Us

If you’re walking down Main Street in Cortland, you can’t miss the neon lights of The Deli Downtown. We’ve been a part of the Downtown community since 2003! Owners Bob Catalfano & his daughter Jeanne Catalfano have worked hard to make The Deli not just a delicious place to eat, but also a social gathering place for Cortland’s local community and college students.

Known for its giant portions and fun, friendly atmosphere, The Deli Downtown serves hot and cold sandwiches, grilled paninis, salads, soups and desserts. Most of our items are homemade including all of our soups and award-winning chili!

Be sure to check out our full catering menu! From weddings to office meetings, we can provide everything you need down to the table linens!

The Deli is extremely active in the community. For more information on local events, or just to check out more pictures, follow us on Facebook and Instagram!

If you're in Syracuse, check out our other store, A La Mode Cafe and Catering, located near Syracuse University. We also have a food truck available for all types of events! Check out The Bite Box!

Ryan St. Denis

Ryan started at The Deli only six months after its opening in 2003, and eventually became manager. She managed the store until November 2016, when she transferred to manage our store in Syracuse, A La Mode Café and Catering. Ryan was instrumental in growing the business and forming relationships with our regulars in Cortland. She created many of our recipes including some of our award-winning chili! Ryan's fun and sarcastic nature created a welcoming atmosphere for both staff and customers. After 15 years with The Deli, her impact will be felt long after her departure. She is missed in Cortland, but doing a phenomenal job in Syracuse.

Fharrica Westendorf

Fharrica started at The Deli in 2009, and quickly became Ryan's right hand. Naturally talented in the kitchen, Fharrica brought a lot of experience and great ideas. She loves to create different desserts and every catering order has her personal touch. Having grown up locally, there are a lot of organizations that are important to her in the community. She has gotten The Deli involved in giving back to many of them.  Fharrica has an extremely warm and caring nature and has often gone out of her way to help people in the community. She naturally took over as manager upon Ryan's departure in 2016 and has proven to be a manager who goes above and beyond for her staff. She has developed a number of new menu items that can be found on our updated menus!
